Beginner Backcountry skier.

I'm looking for a ski buddy. I'm thinking about going up to Stevens peak. I am slow but if you don't mind waiting at the top for me I will eventually get there. I have very little experience but did watch a couple YouTube videos. I have a shovel but no probe. I'm a 34 y/o male. Let me know if you want to go up this Sunday. I will probably go by myself if nobody wants to go.

Welcome to the community @jakers509, your enthusiasm is appreciated but you may want to take a pause:

I would not recommend Stevens Peak to a beginner backcountry skier, especially alone.

Check out the training grounds across the freeway from Lookout Pass for a good place to get started and learn some of the backcountry travel skills etc without bothering with much avalanche terrain.

Also time to complete that kit.. none of us go out in the backcountry without a: shovel, beacon, probe.

Be avalanche aware:

Mammut and BCA are the most popular options and easiest to use. Anything that was manufactured in the last few years should be good!
