OK, all this heat and seeing all the snow in Chile has me jonesing hard for some snow. So I figured I'd throw this out there:
What is your prediction for this next season here in the Inland NW?
A little perspective for ya. I moved to this area in January 1998, that summer we had 38 days with temps over 90f degrees. The 2nd most 90 degree days in recorded history. That winter started a bit slow then slammed. I rode roughly 55 days of powder that season (of the 70 days on mountain). Note, powder to me is 6"+, not 3.. not 5".. but 6" recored on mtn (Specifically I've used Silver Mtn totals).
Now, I recognize we are in a very strong El Niňo. But it should be said that we still typically get 80% or higher of normal snowpack even during these events and we have received more than average snow on a few El Niño's (specifically 1995, 2003, 2007, and 2009).
So what say you PanhandleBackcountry peeps. Let's get some thoughts, whether it's your crystal ball or our basement meteorologists. Whatcha got??
Cheers,
PP
