Split Phantom Splitboard Bindings-Hardboots

So, not sure how many hardbooters we have out there.. But just in case, here is a nice little piece from Splitboard.com about Phantom Hard boot Splitboard bindings.
I do use hard boots in certain conditions, however I do not have a pair of these bindings. The friends I know that do use the Phantom Systems LOVE them. Super lightweight, brings your boot right close to the board for excellent control.
They are not cheap.. but from what I understand, are worth their (light) weight in gold!

I've followed the evolution of these bindings closely on splitboard.com. For years discussion of a more evolved splitboard binding for hardboots revolved around the voile puck system, which although tried and true, are a lowtech comprimise in both tour & ride mode. The new Spark dyno are the end result of what was discussed for the voile puck system and are the more affordable option to the state of the art Phantoms.

With tech toe pieces for tour mode, a plate binding designed from the ground up to actively pull the board halves together is a quantum leap in split board technology. Akin to dynafits for skis, whose touring efficiency are taken advantage of by by both systems.

Checkout Spark R&D's new Hardboot binding. Will just slide on to your current Voile puck system.
Also, Ranger Bindings out of New Zealand will use a tech toe for for its tour mode (check out Splitboard Gear section for more info). Ranger had plans to make a hard boot attaché net as well. It will hold the board together like the Phantoms, but with less moving parts. Which is a good thing.

Yeah, I've had my eye on the dyno's but they're $250 and still need tech toe pieces and $65 for adapt plates; now i'm upto $500 and approaching phantom territory.
The option to tour with my older non-tech boot would be nice. The ranger tech touring toe I really like, lighter, simpler and uses factory inserts but w/shipping cost as much as dynafits from spark. If ranger made a active plate for hardboots that used the tech tour (like their soft binding) to use with non tech boot I'd go for that.

When Ranger gets it out.. you'll see that it will be a big contender against the Phantom..

In the mean time, if you use the Voile pucks, one could get the Spark Hard boot system. I held it this week when I visited office. It's beefy and yet light. Not raising you off the base 2" like using the Voile adapters.

On the verge of buying voile angled pucks, but trying to really pinch the pennys, got any old voile pucks you'd part w/cheap for the interim? My old diy pucks won't work for the Odin.
Using old burton plate toe/heel direct to the slider so only an inch off the deck, less than my other HB setups so no issue there.

Totally would throw ya a set of Voile's if I had them. I did a google search after reading your other post to see if I could find something. But now we are in the season there is no good deals :-(

Thanks Larry, I bit the bullet and ordered some voile canted pucks since they became available yesterday, should be up & running by t-day. Now trying to sel some gear to get the Ranger touring toes, I like simple.

Thanks for the heads up but it could be a few weeks as the tv just died so we just spent $500 to day.
