There's more than a few exciting changes coming to our local avalanche center this season:
1) Forest Service has hired a full-time avalanche center director! Chris Bilbrey joined the organization this past summer and is already killing it. Expect many positive changes to the program moving forward. Learn a bit about Chris here: https://www.idahopanhandleavalanche.org/about/
2) Forecast zones have changed. There will be a new forecast zone, bringing IPAC up to four: Selkirks & West Cabinets, East Cabinets, Purcells, and Silver Valley. Zones have also been redrawn to include/exclude some areas depending on usage.
3) Forecasts will be issued more frequently. I'd expect to see more than two weekly forecasts this Winter. Stay tuned for more details.
